Programming, Listening & Referral
Eva Portelance runs various programs, services & events for families. She can also provide you with lots of useful information, steer you towards great resources or programs, and accompany you along the way. Eva’s role is to support parents in their family life and to guide them towards available resources. We work closely with our other volunteer services, the Town, the CLSC, local schools and other community groups. If you’re not sure where to turn, maybe Eva can help.
Are you looking for local services in English, and need support or someone to talk to? You can reach out to Angie Déry, our Community Outreach Worker. Angie is there to listen, offer support to the anglophone community, and refer you to relevant resources and services depending on individual or family needs.
Our popular Baby Drop-Ins are a great parent-baby activity. Come meet other families, hang out, chat & dig through our baby items give-away pile. It’s a great way to meet other families and connect with parents. Don’t be shy to stop in to ask questions about what’s on your mind and enjoy free snacks, coffee & tea. Our staff is there to answer your questions and to guide you to helpful resources. A great parent-baby activity for local families!
Prenatal and vaccination services
On the third Friday of the month a nurse from the CLSC is present at the CAB to answer questions related to perinatal health and to administer vaccines.
Come join our weekly playgroup, meet local families, and borrow a variety of games, craft supplies, books, and toys for free at our toy library! Just like at the library, you can borrow games and toys that the kids will love to discover. Parents can learn more about developmental phases of children’s play, while promoting sharing and recycling. Our Family Resource Person, Eva Portelance, is on hand at the Toy Library and it is a great opportunity to access other valuable services to meet your family’s needs.
Child Car Seat Rental
Dépannage bambin is an affordable rental service for baby & toddler car seats. All our car seats are inspected and meet Canadian safety standards. We recommend reserving equipment ahead of time so be sure to call us to check availability!

Through this intergenerational program, over a dozen volunteers offer individualized Homework Assistance to 10-15 students at the Sutton School on a weekly basis. Teachers and parents note the beneficial impacts of the program on students’ learning outcomes. Each week, students also receive a healthy snack to help them stay focused while they learn.
Opérations septembre by Centraide
Each Fall, in partnership with Centraide, the CAB offers back-to-school support to families at the Sutton School. We work closely with the school to focus on the specific needs of the students and families that need it most.
